Where the Jungle meets the Sea...

Costa Rica's Caribbean coast is a wonderful treat...although not for the fient of heart :-p

Miles and Miles of beach with virtually no one on them, warm water (80 degrees ish), and breathtaking rain forests lining the shore all to ourselves!

The town where we are staying is called Puerto Viejo, it is the center of the Caribbean coast, it is a REGGAE town, reggae music everywhere, (among other things) and to say the vibe is laid back would be an understatement.

Our hotel (totem hotel) is situated directly on Playa Cocles, which is a cool stretch of beach. Our room actually looks out on the ocean, if we leave our door open the sound of waves is beautiful, unfortunately it turns us in to a all you can eat buffet for the skitters as well :-) . Every morning (2 to date, hahah) we have been walking about 5km down the beach (c'mon its me, you think I can chillax completely), we found an amazing beach (name unsure of) that you can only access by walking, clear turquoise water and deserted, stunning!

We took a little road trip down about 13km (i think in KM's now peeps, so Costa of me)(on another side note we aren't so good with this conversion as Nick sent some poor chap to find the monkeys that were 400 meters away and yea, more like 2KM away, ooops) final destination to be Manzanillo, a funky little Caribbean town.

On our way we decided to hit up a cool beach called Punta Uva. SOooooooo glad we did! This beach was out of a dream! It was just a narrow strip of sand, and the rest was rain forest, with a beautiful cliff, covered in beautiful trees's. Again almost no one on it!

Manzanillo, was our last stop in it was a definitely a funky Caribbean town. Long, soft sand beach, clear water (which you should know is not the standard over here in the Caribbean side). The drive was an adventure in itself (ya know all 13KM's of it) as we saw, a ton of monkey's, cute little buggers. Seems as though the Tico's here couldn't really give a damn about them, I wonder if its comparable to someone oohing and aahing about the hawks by my house (seen it).

As I said this part of the country is for chillaxin'...we eat, we nap, we enjoy some tasty cerveza's.

We are off to hike and snorkel the National Parks tomorrow....and SUNDAY is the wild river rafting trip (pray for us it is class 4 and up (super yay)).

Blog ya lates, xx
